PROJECT HIGHLIGHT | ROOTY HILL
This project was a while in the making, like all renovations - good things take time. We met John & Maureen at The Pool Spa Show and immediately connected. During the show they locked in their pool, and returned with a budget, and vision for their home. Pergola. Decking. Cladding. And custom outdoor BBQ area.
DESIGN CONCEPT | ROOTY HILL
They already had a small outdoor patio, however it felt outdated, and they wanted to extend onto that. The goal was to create a new outdoor living area, custom bbq area as well full design around their new soon to be pool.
When going through samples, they were looking to go with an opposite contrast to their home, and settled on Grey. For such a large scale job, and being built around a pool - choosing Trex was a no brainer. With a 50 Year Warranty, Fade, Stain & Scratch resistant, as well as a safety P5 Slip Rating - it was the perfect choice for outdoor traffic and pool safety.
In the pool area we designed a retreat area, along with a feature wall to make the area feel more secluded.
MATERIALS | ROOTY HILL
Material selections are at the forefront of what we do. We have partnered with the biggest ranges in Australia, so we can continue to offer the highest quality this industry has to offer.
The decking we used is Trex Transcend. Trex is designed and manufactured in America, and set the standard for composite decking worldwide, with it's top range capping solutions. As a WPC (Wood Plastic Composite), it's created with a combination of plastic and wood shavings (instead of wood dust) creating a solid, cooler, decking board. The colour selection is Island Mist, a mixed grey board with black subtle hues - gives the overall affect a more natural look.
For the wall cladding we used Woodevo, Deep Castellation Cladding. The profile offers deep extrusion, allowing for a more dramatic look when installed. The colour black is striking in itself. Woodevo is based in Melbourne and designed here in Australia. Accomodating our weather and ensuring the product is fade resistant in our harsh Summers. Wall Cladding has comes so far over the years, and with the impact it has it's easy to see why. It really transforms everyday backyard homes and colorbond fencing, into something extroadinary.
A standout feature is the recessed pool cover - thanks to our partners over at Aussie UnderCover. We built a recessed frame below the deck so that the cover would sit in it. We then created a custom lid so when closed it would appear seamless.
In total we actually built 3 pergola's - all Versiclad. The main one you will see in the images - it's hard to miss, it's basically a second roof. And to showcase the possibilities are endless, we've added photo's of the small pergola at the BBQ area - a perfect way to enjoy the area no matter what the weather throws at you. Maximises both shade and shelter.
RESULT | ROOTY HILL
Everything tied in beautifully. This was a huge renovation. But the impact this has had on their lives, priceless. It has not only transformed their home, but their lives. This was so amazing to be apart of, watching every area come to life.
